Our Staff Rocks!

Staff at Rideau Park took part in a team building activity on the first day back for staff.  Staff had to problem solve and in many cases, had to try out new things which were scary.  This gave us an opportunity to feel like a student and to understand how learning can be scary if it is new.  We also learned how to work as a team to get the job done!  Mrs. G and Mrs. Fonseca worked together to climb to the top of this wall. They had rely on each other in order to be successful.

Artist in Residence

Students at Rideau Park School had three wonderful weeks with artist, Theo Harasymiw. Students got to draw, paint, and sculpt with a variety of media.  At the end, Theo took all of the art and put many of the images together to create a wonderful mural in the front entrance, gymnasium and main hallway of our school. This beautiful mural welcomes anyone who walks in to our school. It is a representation of all of our students and some teachers who got to help paint the images once they were transferred to our walls. This is a lovely legacy that many will admire in years to come. Thank you, Theo, for the experience. Thank you to the Friends of Rideau Park, our fantastic parent group, for sponsoring this event. Without you, it would have been impossible.

Reading, Give it a Shot!

We got to go to the Oil Kings vs. the Victoria Royals hockey game because we won the Oilers “Give it a Shot” program. There was a t-shirt toss and a chuck a puck. A t-shirt toss is when someone throws a t-shirt and you can catch one and a chuck a puck you buy a puck to throw and you want to get as close to the middle of the rink as possible. The girls sitting in the front row always screamed when someone got body checked into the glass in front of them they would scream. But at the end Oil Kings won 6 to 3. It was really fun going to a hockey game.          – Jordan Keehn 6B

– Sophie Giese 6B
