At Rideau Park, students will demonstrate growth in their reading comprehension, with an emphasis on Balanced Literacy, Guided Reading, and a variety of reading opportunities. Measurement of this growth will be through performance-based school assessments, HLATS (Higher Level of Achievement Tests) Reading, and PAT (Provincial Achievement Tests) Reading. Assessment for Learning strategies will be further developed during our best practices work, which will focus on critical thinking, higher order questioning and inquiry.
